Mario was our waiter and he did a great job and he was very attentive to our needs. I asked for the T bone steak well done and it was cooked perfectly. Everything was fine.

Came here for a free birthday breakfast as it states on their website. I had signed up for their membership list prior to coming but didn't have the coupon with me. The waitresses didn't even give me the time of day. The really started my birthday off in the worst, hungriest way possible. Needless to say, but took my business and birthday breakfasting to the Waffle Hut, a locally owned restaurant with better service and food. A business deserves service when they put their customers above themselves.

We've given this little spot a try twice now. Both times we went when there were empty tables so it wasn't too busy. Sadly both times the food took so long. We were there for 1.5 hours both times. That's just absurd to me. We will not be returning.

On our way from Reno to Bend we stopped here for lunch. We both got food poisoning. We ordered their BLAST, a BLT with avocado. Fortunately I realized after the first few bites that something was terribly off. I picked out the avocado, called the waitress over, and pointed to the pile of avocado. Her response was, "what is that?" Even she didn't recognize it as avocado. Could you?

My highlight of my stay in Oregon. Pretty good food with big portions. This is a chain diner so there are plenty of them around the West coast. I'd recommend them.

This is such a nice "hometown" diner. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. The place was very busy on the day we arrived, but no one looked harried and we did not feel rushed. I had an unusual flatbread sandwich with well-seasoned chicken fingers inside. I loved it! I also ordered possibly the best glass of fresh squeezed orange juice in my entire life. It's as if they had an orange grove out back. The hub had a classic omelet breakfast combo. The only thing I would change were the hash browns that were slices of potato rather than grated. They seemed frozen and did not have a great texture. I will definitely return to try some of the other dishes.

After being ignored by the staff at Elmer's down the road we left and came to the Black Bear. They were packed but gave immediate service seating us right away. Friendly servers and good food. We had the chicken fried steak and the corned beef hash classic breakfasts. The hash was good and made in - house. I would have liked it to be a bit more crispy but the flavors were great. The chicken fried steak was a good portion cooked well and smothered with a very thick country gravy may have been made with hamburger instead of sausage but had good flavor without being overly salty. . All breakfasts are served with biscuits but you can sub as we did. English muffin for me and sourdough toast for him. Very glad we left Elmer's and came here. Will definitely return when in the area and seeking something to eat.

Another chain restaurant I will not be returning to... food was decent, but service was borderline terrible. Had to wait a considerable length of time to be greeted and seated... We were not provided plates for our appetizer, so we had to lean over the table to eat over the big plate in the middle of the table. The waitress brought me fries for my side instead of the potato salad I had asked for. Upon returning to the table with my tasteless potato salad, she informed me that she would have to take the fries back (presumably to eat herself) and asked me to put my burger on the small side plate that had the cup of potato salad on it. On the plus side- I bought some bear feet slippers lol

We've been to several Black Bear Diners in California and one in Arizona. They're all quite good considering it's not fancy cuisine. If you're expecting candles on the table, forget about it. If you want comfort food, this is the place.

I'm happy to report that Black Bear Diner in Kfalls gets a solid 4 stars!! Good job, Black Bear! I'm really impressed, the food and the service was both great! If I would have reviewed this place a couple years ago I would have given it 1 star...used to suck pretty bad. I remember the last time I was here the food was way sub-par and the service was horrible....and I'm glad to say that has turned completely around! We ate here about a week ago and were pleasantly surprised! Our waiter was very good, attentive, and seemed like an all around nice guy! Come to think about it, I think I have seen him previously at another restaurant in Klamath...he looked familiar....anyway, they are lucky to have him, he was great! I had their stuffed burger and fries, it was really great!! Super juicy burger with great flavor! My dad had another of their burgers, said it was good too, and my mom had one of their chicken wraps...I tried some and it was delicious! Very good quality food. The husband had an omlette, and he raved about it! I know it was really good because he will definitley say so if it sucks! All 4 of us had great food and were served promptly. It was a sucessful night eating out! I would definitely recommend BBD, and will most likely be back next time we visit!

We went there on Christmas day for breakfast, our server was very pleasant and warm, after placing our order we noticed that people who had come in after us were getting their food and upon asking the waiter where our food was she stated oh your order is up next, which more orders came out but not ours. After waiting 40 minutes I told the waitress either have the food out in 5 minutes we were leaving, to which she responded oh see! Needless to say the five minutes went and gone and we got up and left, with a promise never to return!

Stopped in hoping to get breakfast for lunch on Wednesday, June 16 . Have tried other locations. Anticipated similar results. Not happening. Waitress/hostess overwhelmed and working alone apparently. Sat in back room because I prefer a table to a booth. WAs going to order chicken fried steak, but server said they were frozen and premade by commercial restaurant company, when I asked about them. Waited 13 minutes for my order to be taken, waited another 20 minutes for two scrambled eggs, signature shredded elongated thick hash browns, thick bacon, and a biscuit. Must have been quail eggs: gone in about 6 average bites. But, I know they were real eggs because the white was slimy runny - not my favorite at all. Hash browns were stone cold and tasted like raw potato. Bacon was tepid at best. Server dropped off the food and disappeared thereafter. No checking back to see how I was doing or to offer refills on iced tea. Another server came into the room, but totally ignored me. Must be a locals only kind of thing for good service, or could be simple lack of staff to meet demand. Server appeared again only to drop off check. Took the buscuit with me. Really disappointed, however, since I had such a positive experience in Shasta. Maybe they had a bad day, but that meant my meal was subpar and all I have to base my review on. I probably will not make the effort to get there from the highway again.

Um, yeah... I've enjoyed the BBD in other areas previously and I liked the food. Old fashioned, comfort food. I was not a fan during this visit. The food was blah and unappealing. The server was good enough. Not like I found a hair or mouse poop on my spoon. Just not good food. For a small community like K Falls, there are other decent restaurants to visit.

I wish I could give four stars to the Black Bear, but my second experience there just wasn't up to par. My husband and I had breakfast there for the first time about a month ago. It was delicious! Hot food, deliciously seasoned, fast, attentive service. I had some sort of awesome eggs bene, and the chef had a "light" breakfast of fruit, toast, etc. We were both super pleased. The decor is charming and there's a buzz in the dining room, as if everyone is pleased to be there. The second time I went myself, and ordered a different kind of bene. The eggs were cold, not seasoned. The potatoes were old and crusty. The service was still excellent, but man, I was so disappointed with the food. It's not all that cheap to eat there. I expect the food to be excellent for the price, and now I'm scared of the consistency. We probably won't go back. What a bummer.

There is rarely a time I put up negative views. I like taking in the dining experience as a whole. That said, my family decided to go to black bear to eat.noting the time at 5:40. After the waiter came by promptly take our order. We waited. And waited. Then waited some more. Watching other people get their food. Finally at 6:40pm. I asked the waitress what happened to our food? It seems when someone doesn't get waited on correctly, you are treated like the black plague. It wasn't until I chewed out the manager, the staff, for doing this, did I get an apology. I can not believe you can " accidentally " not give the order to the cooks. Even other tables were in disbelief at our treatment. I do not recommend this restaurant anymore. I will never eat here again and I will never tell other people to eat here. They have lost my service.

Very happy surprise to run across my fav restaurant!! Only complaint....maybe a dozen people in diner, and we are all seated NEXT to each other...im sure it makes it easier for the server, but our family of 4 tends to be loud without trying. So i order shastta lava cake...and 10 minutes later, 'oh, im sorry we're out. Can i get you anything else?' No thank you...had my heart set on the lava cake. Good dinner, but a bit bummed about dessert.

Why did I order a salad at a comfort food place? After all, it is vacation time and calories don't count on vacation anyway. Right? On the 11 hour journey from Portland to Tahoe, Klamath Falls is right in the middle. So we actually had lunch here twice this week as bookends on our trip. I've been to other Black Bear Diners and this one isn't the standout of the chain, but it was an OK place to take a break from the road. I wouldn't recommend the Grilled South Western Steak Salad which was drowning in ancho-cilantro ranch dressing. I was happier with The Gobbler (Turkey, avocado and cranberry sauce) on my second visit. Although I eat a lot of turkey sandwiches and this one is also right in the middle. For the sides, my preference was the cole slaw over the potato salad and my husband said the macaroni salad was fine. Of his meals, the BBQ Chicken Burger, with onion ring, was his favorite. Kids were reasonably satisfied with their meals which come with a sundae after 11a. When taking a break from the road, you want to stretch out and have a good meal, but also not dawdle too long. And our service both times, especially the second visit, was very slow. It was good once we actually had the server at our table, but the waits to be seated, have drink orders, then meal orders taken and to receive our food were all longer that you would expect. Since I do this drive at least once a year, I've been to some other places in the area. The restaurant at the Odell Lake Resort near Crescent Lake was a more unique place to stop on the drive and we'll probably return there the next time we're in the area.

Lousy Food, Good Service. I have tried to be a fan of Black Bear Diners, because they are located in out-of-the-way Oregon and California communities, where I often find myself on road trips. Regrettably, I have often been disappointed with the quality and value of their food. Managers here need to give more attention to the quality of their food. (I have found the service pretty good.) Recently, in Klamath Falls, Oregon, I ventured away from the BBD's core breakfast menu to have a "breakfast burrito," but I was sorely disappointed. What was described on the menu as a fresh, Mexican-style egg breakfast burrito, turned out to be scrambled eggs smothered in "Hormel" brand chili from a can, then wrapped in a tortilla. It was really unappetizing. My suggestion--during breakfast, stick to the bacon, eggs, waffles and pancakes. When the BBD strays from their basic breakfast fare, they miss the mark!

Hmm. I hate comparing a place to Denny's, but if you are looking for an alternative I'm not sure the Black Bear measures up to the task. When we arrived we were not acknowledged for quite awhile while the staff worked on some issue at the register with another customer. It looked like there was only one waitress for the entire side of the restaurant. She was doing the best she could, but was not apologetic or acknowledging of the wait. The food itself wasn't all that wonderful. They probably should eliminate a few items off of their menu and try and simpler approach.

OK people, here's the deal: Ya don't go to a Black Bear Diner for salad. Ya don't go there with the outlandish idea of calorie/carb counting. And why on earth would a vegan even step foot into this place? Ya want dietic, go to a produce stand or something. I don't go to places like BBD that much, because if I did, it'd take a crane to lift me off my couch. This having been said, when the mood strikes, and I want a big, fat-laden, comforting breakfast that transports me back to memories of blooming onions and cotton candy at the state fair? Oh yeah, this is the place. Their signature breakfast dish is the chicken fried steak, which I wholly recommend. Hint: Order the hash browns crispy and they'll come out just right.

Not many choices for a vegan (my husband), but we didn't really expect much. He had a dinner salad with oil and vinegar and a wheat beer. He was semi-satisfied. I had fish and chips. Not the best I've ever had. And the ancho-cilantro ranch dressing on my dinner salad was... spicy.

Orie M.
As stated above, BIG portions. Service was slow at first (we had to wait a bit to get seated) but once we got seated it was ok. Their menu is cute, it looks like a newspaper and we got to keep them. I got a brioled chicken and avocado sandwich with a side of fries (not really a side because they gave me a TON) and my dining companion got a joe bear's scramble. Since Klamath Falls is sort of a sleepy town catering to out of town visitors who need to rest on the way to bigger cities, I was expecting blah food, but the food here was higher than my expectations. I was suprised to find that this Diner is actually a chain restaurant with many locations in the western coast states.

The fam and I stopped here for dinner on way to SF. If you're looking for American style fare with HUGE trucker portions, this is the way to go. Starting a mini vacation is not time to deny yourself. The taco salad was actually one of the best/humongous I've had (could feed a football team) - a soft, fresh taco shell loaded (I mean loaded) with cheese, chicken, avocado, tomatoes, olives; comes with a side of salsa and dressing. Their albacore tuna sandwich is well-known , too, with the freshest tuna around. They also have some great homestyle, family dinners: turkey, meatloaf, plus breakfast is served all day. It's hard to try and save room for dessert, but you don't want to miss the fresh marionberry cobbler loaded with vanilla ice cream. A beary good place to chow down and great for little cubs. Don't expect a wine or full beer list - this is a place where white Zin is the drink of choice.

It was ok food, a lot of food for the price so that's a plus, really really sweet server who was more than helpful with anything we asked for, so I can't complain.

Ate here twice on separate business trips, and was very pleasantly surprised both times. Food and service were great! Awesome small-town diner!

Good food, good service. We liked the pie a lot. Definitely a take-away box type of place. Cute decor, in a cheesy kind of way.

Not many choices for a vegan (my husband), but we didn't really expect much. He had a dinner salad with oil and vinegar and a wheat beer. He was semi-satisfied. I had fish and chips. Not the best I've ever had. And the ancho-cilantro ranch dressing on my dinner salad was... spicy.
